I'm gunna start this blog with one statement. If you're a Tuukka hater than you can just
That's right. Leave. Get out of here. Your terrible opinion is unwanted and brutally wrong. Ever since his arrival to Boston in the trade that sent Andrew Raycroft to Toronto Tuukka Rask has been nothing short of elite. He finished 4th in Calder trophy voting for the leagues best rookie in the 09-10 season after posting a 22-12-5 record with a .931 sv% and a 1.97 GAA. His .922 career save percentage is good enough to place him in a tie with Hall of Famers Ken Dryden and Jonny Bower for second on the ALL TIME save percentage list trailing only Hall of Famer Dominik Hasek. Yes, you read that correctly he has the second best save percentage of all time (is that good?) yet Rask haters will still say the Bruins need to move on from the most consistently excellent goalie they've had this millennium.
yEaH bUt He CaNt WiN iN tHe PlAyOfFs. Uhhhhh, yeah he can. In 2013 Rask put up nearly identical numbers to the ones Boston Legend Tim Thomas did in his magical 2011 cup run. Tuukka in 2013: 46 goals against .940 sv% 1.88 GAA.
Thomas in 2011: 51 goals against .940 sv% 1.98 GAA.
The main difference in the two runs is Thomas got 3.24 goals per game for offensive support while Tuukka got 2.95 goals per game in 2013. And lets not forget that Tuukka gave one of the best goaltending performances I have ever seen in the 2013 ECF vs. the loaded Pittsburgh Penguins. 2 goals against .985 sv% .5 GAA with 2 Shutouts. Superstars Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris LeTang were all held to ZERO points in the series en route to a Boston sweep.
hE lEt HiS tEaM dOwN iN tHe BuBbLe. Fuck off. His daughter had a medical emergency and he went to be with his family you troglodyte. Some things are bigger than sports and family is one of those things.
Despite all his career accomplishments (Multiple All star game appearances, Vezina Trophy as the leagues best goaltender, Jennings Trophy as the goaltender on the team with the fewest goals against and yes he did win a ring in 2011 albeit as the backup) Some Bruins fans still want him out of Boston. He does not deserve the type of hate he gets and Boston "fans" don't deserve the greatness that is Tuukka Rask. Two u's two k's two points.
