KHL Korner 1 (10-1-21)

Hello and welcome everyone to the first installment of The KHL Korner. I hope you packed your parka because we are headed across the Bering Strait to the vast expanse that is Mother Russia.

The KHL is widely regarded as one of the top hockey leagues in the world with teams located in Russia, Finland, Belarus, China, and even Borat's homeland of Kazakhstan.

I started paying attention to the KHL when The Magic Man Pavel Datsyuk returned home and started bullying teams with Iyla Kovalchuk and Nikita Gusev on the perennial powerhouse SKA (not to be confused with another perennial powerhouse cSKA). But as an American who couldn't read a lick of Cyrillic if my life depended on it, the KHL seemed almost impossible to keep up with. But as an absolute degenerate it seemed like a great thing to throw some action on. And thus the birth of this series, KHL Korner where I share my thoughts/picks for the KHL season. I'll start with tomorrows games because today's have already started and I'm not sure how long this bad boy will take me to write.

Amur v Dinamo Riga (3 am EST)

Riga was ass last year. Total Buns. I faded them just about every time I could and made out like a bandit. It seems as though they have improved this year but they have a tough road game alllllll the way in Khabarovsk against Amur. I'm going with Amur ML in this one at -135 (2 units) with a sprinkle on the -1.5 alt. puckline at +220 (1 unit)

Torpedo v Admiral (3 am EST)

After sitting out last year Admiral has gotten off to an expected slow start with just one win in 11 games with the opposing team covering the -1.5 PL in 6 of those 10 losses. Torpedo is coming off a tough loss in OT to Amur its last game after a average start to the season. Torpedo should have gotten over the jet lag from the long west coast trip after their first game on the trip and I expect them to come out swinging. Torpedo -1.5 +155 (2 units)

Traktor v Avangard (6 am EST)

The reigning Gagarin Cup champions seem to have a cup hangover getting off to a slow start for the 2021 season which I expect to continue on the road vs the boys in Chelyabinsk. Traktor ML -130 (1 unit) is the pick.

Red Star v Vityaz (10 am EST)

I don't have any picks for this game but I do have some thoughts. The Beijing boys haven't had the best season and I don't expect them to turn it around this game. I think Vityaz wins but no action for me.

That's it for this edition of the KHL Korner. Stay tuned for tomorrow's installment. Have fun, drink lots of water, and bet responsibly. Na Zdorovie.

TL;DR

Amur ML -135 2 units

Amur -1.5 +220 1 unit

Traktor ML -130 1 unit

Torpedo -1.5 +155 2 units
